About Us
Who We Are
MindRights and Justice Initiative is a multidisciplinary, non-profit, non-partisan and non-religious organisation committed to advancing mental health, human dignity, legal protection and social justice.
Our Organisation
We bring together mental health professionals, legal practitioners, researchers, advocates, service users, caregivers, policymakers and community partners to strengthen rights-respecting mental health services in Nigeria and beyond.
Our work is multidisciplinary in approach, collaborative in spirit and grounded in evidence. We are not a clinical service provider and we do not offer individual medical or legal advice. We are an organisation that educates, researches, advocates and connects.
MindRights is non-partisan and non-religious. We work with people and organisations across the political, professional and community spectrum. Our positions are based on evidence, human rights standards and the interests of people experiencing mental ill-health.
Mission
"To advance rights-respecting mental healthcare and social justice through education, research, knowledge translation, multidisciplinary collaboration, community engagement and evidence-informed advocacy."
Vision
"A society in which every person experiencing mental ill-health is treated with dignity, receives appropriate care, understands their rights and has meaningful access to justice."
Our Values
These values guide every decision we make, every programme we run and every relationship we build.
