Accessibility
Last updated: 3 October 2026
[TO BE CONFIRMED – organisation legal name.] MindRights wants this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technology and people with disabilities.
Our approach
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing commitment rather than a one-off exercise. Accessibility is considered as content is written and as the site is changed.
[TO BE CONFIRMED – status of assessment.] No independent accessibility audit of this website has been carried out yet, so no formal statement of conformance is being made at this stage. The measures below describe how the site has been built; they are not a certified claim of compliance.
How the site has been built
- Pages use a single top-level heading, real section headings, and landmark elements for the navigation, main content and footer.
- A “skip to main content” link is provided as the first focusable element on each page.
- Images that carry meaning include alternative text; decorative images are marked as decorative.
- Colour is not used as the only way information is conveyed.
- The layout reflows for small screens and when text is enlarged.
- Types are self-hosted so the site does not depend on third-party font services.
What still needs to be checked
The following have not yet been verified and must be tested before any conformance claim is published:
- Colour contrast of every text and interface colour combination.
- Visibility and order of keyboard focus indicators on all interactive elements.
- Reflow at 200% and 400% zoom, and at 320 CSS pixels wide.
- Behaviour with reduced-motion preferences enabled.
- Compatibility with current screen readers and browsers.
- The mobile navigation drawer: focus management, escape-to-close, and returning focus to the toggle button.
[TO BE CONFIRMED – record the date, method and result of the accessibility test once it has been carried out. If an independent audit is commissioned, record who carried it out and link to the report.]
Known limitations
[TO BE CONFIRMED – list any barriers currently known, or state “No known accessibility barriers have been identified, other than those listed above as still to be checked.”]
